TEN SURPRISING TENSION OUTLETS IN CHILD BEHAVIOR

Interestingly, there are certain behaviors that take place at certain ages in our children’s lives that most parents are not aware of.

For example, when my son was about four years old, every time I went out with him, he always, always had to go to the shop’s bathroom. I discovered that most times he didn’t have to relieve himself at all, but still felt the need to discover each bathroom at each shop. So I began to observe and examine different behaviors and ages – just to see if my child was not going off the deep end!

As a result of raising my own kids, working with other children, and talking to several clients of mine who are parents, I discovered certain common behavior.

Here are my findings in a “Tension Outlet” list. These actions are not unusual in the least:

At 18 months old, sit down temper tantrums arrive.
At 21 months old, removes clothes and runs around unclothed.
At 2 years old, child has many presleep demands.
At 2.5 years old, child has sudden aggressive attacks – may “sock” a stranger.
At 3 years old, child may wander around house at night.
At 3.5 years old, spitting is discovered. Much whining.
At 4 years old, child needs to urinate in moments of emotional excitement (like shopping excursions).
At 5 years old, nose picking and nail biting may start.
At 6 years old, clumsy starts, heavy breathing, gasping with excitement.
At 7 years old, possible headaches, some blinking and scowling starts.

There are many more tension outlet lists for each age group. For more information about these outlets, please call The Parent-Child Connection Coach at 310-458-2079 or email me at linda@empoweringparentsnow.com.
