Linda Milo
The Parent-Child Connection Coach

For many years Linda Milo has worked with The Family Tree, a group of volunteers working one-on-one with teens in high school and their newborns. In addition, Linda created and funded a collegiate scholarship for teen-parents in order to assist in their educational aspirations.

As a single mother of three girls and three boys (including a set of twins), Linda did most of her child rearing without the support of family and friends as she raised her children in Japan for eleven years. She found the Japanese culture to be unlike that of the USA, as it was rather isolating to westerners and the concept of babysitting for another’s child was a truly foreign notion. She has experienced the agony of sibling rivalry over one toy as well as the joys of watching her children grow into delightful and caring adults who she now considers her best friends.

Linda Milo is a compassionate and nurturing parent who understands the ups and downs of parenthood. Over the years, she has been a nursery school teacher, a teacher for middle school children, and an active member of the PTA. She has worked with children with varying disabilities and she has also volunteered in reading for the blind on WLRN radio in Miami, Florida.

Linda’s experience in parent-child connection coaching brings not only well thought out strategies, including lots of humor, but also the understanding of how the majority of those who do become parents do so with little or no formal training.

Having experienced the REAL joys of parenthood during the process of watching her own children grow, Linda founded Empowering Parents Now out of a passion to help parents have a better parent/child relationship.  She watched parents feeling anxious and puzzled in not knowing what to do as loving and responsible parents.  Parents told her they wanted to experience a more livable, workable and enjoyable family life – free from tensions.

Linda’s philosophy is simple: Raising healthy children takes more than the right expectations, or knowing appropriate ways of disciplining or rewarding your child. Parenting children is also a deeply emotional experience that requires you, the parent, to maintain an awareness of your own needs. Her Parent-Child Connection Program is offered in three formats:
Joyful Parenting Program, Unique Dilemma Program, and the Group Mania! Program.

Linda offers workshops and speaking engagements to schools, organizations, and corporations.  Linda is a columnist for several women’s magazines and parenting magazines.  In addition to writing parenting articles for newspapers and websites, Linda is the author of the Joyful Parenting Home Study Workbook.  She is currently teaching parenting classes at homeless shelters in Los Angeles, CA.
